Civcampus and your campus
Civcampus is independent from universities. University offices can understand the process, review public reports, and respond through the mechanisms Civcampus provides, but they do not control what students may report or how Civcampus governs the platform.
What your office can do, and what it cannot
A campus office takes part through an official responder account: it answers on the record, while the record stays independent and trusted by students.
Can
- See which issues keep recurring, with the number of students affected
- Post official updates on an issue, attributed to your office
- Change an issue's status as work moves, and mark an update as concrete progress
- Link official resources and next steps in an update
- Show what was resolved, with the credit kept on the record
- Submit a takedown request, reviewed under the published rules
Cannot
- Edit or delete what a student wrote
- Approve or reject student reports
- Remove an issue quietly, or without a logged reason
- Learn who filed a report, or reveal a hidden identity
- Decide what students may report, or how Civcampus is governed
Offices can respond, not edit. That constraint is the reason a public answer here carries weight: students can see it was not negotiated into existence, and an office that resolves something keeps the credit on a record nobody can quietly revise.
What this gives a campus office
- Patterns, not noise
- Scattered feedback becomes structured records, categorized and tied to places on campus, so recurring problems are visible as patterns.
- Progress students can see
- Official updates and resolutions stay on the record over time, attributed to the office that posted them.
- Clear limits on what is posted
- The published rules do not allow posts that target individuals, and emergencies and protected matters such as Title IX are pointed to official campus resources.
